Are the Little Genie Bobbin Washers a good thing?

I often get bird nests on the bottom of my fabric. Nancy's Notion sell them saying this can be placed in the bobbin case. I have a Janome Memory Craft 4800. I've been noticing my bobbin is loose in the well so I've been thinking the Little Genie might help. It's frustrating because I can sew for two days straight with no problem then suddenly I've got a jam! I sure would be glad for any suggestions.
